Welcome to Sarasota...
Our Season is unofficially over! It is hot in Sarasota in the summer and we don't have much demand for culinary walking tours. We'd be happy to offer recommendations for places to eat -- just send us an e-mail -- but we recommend that you schedule a tour when it cools down in the fall. Enjoy the beach!
Sarasota is a city defined by its climate, culture and, increasingly, its food. Sarasota has long been recognized as Florida's City of the Fine Arts, but, increasingly, it is being hailed as a center of culinary creativity and excellence. Inspired by the beauty of the area, the sophisticated diners who live and visit Sarasota, and the beautiful fresh produce and seafood, an array of chefs, many with international influences, are staking their claim in Sarasota. In fact, within a 20 mile radius of downtown Sarasota, there are more Florida Trend and Zagat top-scoring restaurants than any other place in the state.
Downtown Sarasota has a charm and metropolitan flavor that is unique among cities in Florida. The Downtown Sarasota Historic District was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009 and within walking distance of the District are several charming neighborhoods, such as the Rosemary District, Burns Square, artsy Towles Court and Laurel Park, all with a variety of shops, restaurants and historic buildings. Downtown Sarasota is distinguishing itself as a destination worthy of exploration by itself or in conjunction with a trip to the world renowned white-sand Gulf Coast beaches!
